PGDAT (PG Diploma in Applied Theatre)

This online and offline integrated course helps students to explore various possibilities of getting engaged in a society in various different creative ways. This course develops an understanding towards the use of applied theatre in various fields such as Schools, NGOs, Corporate & Industries, Various Community Spaces, Prisons, Special Education Need etc. and also equip students with necessary skill sets. During this course students will develop an ability to handle a group of specific participants using various dramatic tools and involve them in a process of learning and exploration.

Course Details

The PGDAT is a practice based nine month long online and offline integrated program. As a student, you have to attend four days of classroom training every month at our Pune campus. Some of the courses, report writing, assignments and submissions have to be completed online. In this way working professionals can also join the program and you can get engaged in practice while studying applied theatre. This course focuses on developing your understanding about applied theatre practices and provides a perspective to get engaged in the field of your interest. Students will learn in four different ways:

Workshops

Practice based workshops will enable students to learn and practice applied theater methodologies. The workshops will develop facilitation skills and help learn instruction design, pedagogy of participation, ability to handle questions and discover learning from the process

Theory Courses

There will be few theory courses that students will attend online. This will help them to develop a deep understanding about the subject and gain perspective towards practice. It will also provide an opportunity to develop interest in research and publication.

Master Class

While studying the core subjects it is also important to have exposure about the field you are working in. We have thus developed a master class series to learn various innovative practices in Applied Theatre. These master classes will be conducted in both online and workshop format. This will help you to build your network with practitioners in this field and learn more about how to develop practices on your own.

Internship

Each student has to complete a specific duration of internship during the course tenure. We consider Internship as a very significant and essential part of the course. A small group internship will enhance your practice and improve your analytical skills. As a student, you will get a chance to work in your interest areas which will also help to decide your future roadmap.
